friday favorites: sixteenth

Happy Friday! This week has been the fastest, loveliest week in a long time, and I can't be more thrilled for today to be here. I have a lot of awesome finds this week, feel free to take a look:
Knitted friendship bracelets
I heart these! Simple and light, and I think they'd make great layering bracelets. See the DIY here.

Coco Chanel
Word.

Book Mobile
I really want to try to make a book mobile like this! So simple and pretty and would look so pretty in a cozy little reading corner.

"Breathe" wood sign
Another beautiful handmade item I just love. See it here.

Silhouette
So cute & fun. I love it!

Photography
This is so adorably fun and makes me smile. Next time I go to Disneyland, this is the first thing I'll try to snap a photo of. Mickey ears anyone?

Two years.

Two years ago, I began this blog, and I'l have to admit, I think its one of the best decisions I've ever made. I have met so many amazing readers and I'd just like to say a sincere thank you to all of you out there that take the time out of your day to come over here. Blogging has become such a big part of my life and I'd like to thank you once again for making these two years the very best -- without lovely readers like you, none of this would ever been possible.

Ella's first birthday.

I don't mean to sound like a crazy cat lady when I say this but -- today is my kitty Ella's first birthday! She was born today exactly one year ago, and I am so glad to have this adorable little black cat in my life. She's my little shadow, always a few steps behind me and the most curious cat I think I'll ever meet. She's a feisty, curious, playful, a hunter at heart, cuddly at times, and the most sassy cat I think I'll ever meet. She's come with her challenges (Ella is definitely the queen of the house). She's obsessed with rubberbands, ice cubes (don't even get me started), and little stuffed mice.

When I adopted Ella, the Humane Society didn't know much about her other than her birth date, that she was found alone as a kitten at 2 months, and thought she was a boy at first. (They named her Nick, then realized she was actually a girl, then renamed her Nicolette). My heart melted when I saw her and I knew she had to be mine.

Happy Birthday Ella bean!

Saturday.

I really really like warm weekends. Weekends full of new places, cute old towns, and nice weather (which I was lucky enough to get this time around). I still can't believe summer is less than a month away, and counting down the days until it arrives.

On a side note: It's Ella's birthday tomorrow! Is it weird to think that I'm so excited for a cat's first birthday? Yeah, I'm a bit odd that way :P

Want to sponsor in June?

It's been a really quiet month here on the blog and I'm more than ready to get things running again and back in tip top shape! You may have noticed the new blog look, which I put together as a way to create a bit of a fresh start, a new place to kickstart that blogging "spark".

June is going to be a really nice month here on the blog; delicious recipes, fun decor ideas, lots of photos, and DIYs. I really want to capture the essence of summer this upcoming month, and I can't wait to share it all with you!

The feature ad spot is currently up for grabs -- but it won't be for long! Snag your spot before it's too late!

Farmer's Market

One of my favorite things about the summer season is going to a farmer's market late in the afternoon  on a weekend with locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables available at your fingertips. Seeing all the yummy food there is kind of thrilling and it's always fun to branch out of your comfort zone a bit to decide on what you're having for lunch (nan bread please!). And right as I was leaving, I was super tempted to pick up a big bag of  fresh kettle popcorn, but resisted with all the willpower I had left! Some things are just so hard to say no to.

Three words to describe my weekend?
Warm. Local. Strawberries.

Getting back to blogging.

It has been a long time since I've done some consistent posting around here. My little "blogging break" was totally unplanned and greatly needed. I wanted to live in the moment more, enjoy life as it comes, and unplug just a bit. Taking some nice photos, going new places, exploring just a bit. And after 8 plus days of a blogging hiatus, I have begun to miss my little corner of the Web -- I missed sharing with all my lovely readers!

With the summer season coming up, I've decided to dedicating just enough time for blogging and life, learning to balance the two and sharing the journey with you all as I go. I am going to blog more and get back on a consistent blogging schedule slowly and steadily (as the saying goes "slow and steady wins the race").

Thank you all for being so patient, things are going to get more normal around here. You have my word for it.

(saturday) friday favorites: fifteenth

It's Saturday! And yet I'm posting Friday favorites on a Saturday. Life has been getting in the way and I was deciding whether or not to even post this week's favorites, but I figured I owe you guys one anyway :) Here's this week's Saturday picks:

Washi tape DIY
Cute. Fun. Functional. Find out how to create it here.

Spring polish colors
I need to reference this more often! Those essie colors are to die for.

Granny Squares
I miss crocheting my granny squares! I'm using this as a motivator to keep myself inspired to finish.

The Grass is always greener...
It's so true and kind of pun-y. (that was a pun in itself!)

Cracker iPhone Case
This is adorable! I love it. I just don't know if I'd want to take it to the beach with me -- those seagulls can be vicious.
