Autumn...

{photo via Pinterest}

Autumn is here, and so is the light breezes, jackets, and Halloween Decor. It's also a time when I put together a small "recipe book"- a binder full of laminated recipes I want to try.
I'll also be showing you some of those recipe turn-outs, so if you have any recipe recommendations, make sure to leave a comment (and a link!)

Happy Autumn!

I won a giveaway!

A few weeks ago, I received an email from Amula Designs saying that I won a giveaway on her blog, and I was thrilled! Here is the necklace I got in the mail a few days later:

Isn't it gorgeous? Although it looks stunning in the picture, it looks 10 times better in person. :)

I love it and wear it often- the intricate detail and the wirework is exquisite! So make sure to visit the shop and say hello!

Eat: Pie

It's September, and it's pie baking season!
Although I'm not a huge fan of pie, I can't help but love it's design and the way it's built. (crust, filling, lattice pie crust...)

It tastes even better with a scoop of ice cream!
(I'll stop now, I have a feeling some of you are drooling already.)

Here's a few great tips for pie-making:

  • Make sure you add the right amount of water in your pie crust- too much water makes the pie bland and soggy, too little makes it too hard.
  • Take time creating the pie filling! A great filling makes a great pie.
  • If it goes well with the pie you're making, sprinkle some cinnamon on top of the pie crust. It adds a warm autumn-ish flavor.
                                                         Pie + Fall = Happiness

:: Your Guide to Beauty- September ::

Leaves are falling, it's getting colder... and your lips are chapped. On the topic of beauty, I'm going to give you this September's official Modern Buttercup "Shopping Guide"

First things first! It's essential to have a good chapstick.
Beauty Tip:
A good chapstick is one that is the best scent ever
and isn't oily, greasy, or crumbly.

Buy this lip balm: Lip Balm from Etiquettes

Lotion or Lotion Bars are both great for dry weather and are
perfect for keeping you moisturized.
Beauty Tip: Find a travel-size lotion bar that you can keep in your
purse or pocket, that way you can moisturize your hands
wherever go!

Buy this lotion: Body lotion from maeva beauty

Body Scrubs are heaven in a cube! These are great for
exfoliating and cleaning dry skin thoroughly.
Beauty Tip:
Before buying a lot of one body scrub, make sure to order a sample if the
store you order from offers them.
Then you can get an idea of the scents
before ordering more...

Inner Beauty

I got this adorable print a while ago because I loved the shop and it's artwork...

"Inner Beauty" art print from thepoppytree

Why do I love it so much? Besides the fact that it's too cute to pass up, I love that although she's a caterpillar, she sees herself as a butterfly. (the girl in the print)

In other words, she loves herself for who she is. And I couldn't agree more... you're beautiful the way you are. :)

5 Questions with TheMumbleBee and a GIVEAWAY!

Cuteness + whimsical = TheMumbleBee

Pastel colors and cute characters that live in beautifully illustrated pictures is exactly what you'll find in TheMumbleBee's shop! I was intrigued by the unique artwork and loved the style- and today I'm having a quick Q&A with the shop owner, Mel from TheMumbleBee.

1. What would you consider your main source of inspiration?
I think manga (japanese comic) has a heavy influence over my drawing style. I grew up by reading manga a lot of the time, then I started to love anime. So that's the reason how i get my cute drawing style.

2. Who (or what) influenced you to make your items?
When i stumbled on indiesart website (www.indiesart.com) i was so amazed with the collection of beautiful artworks came from number of artists. Some of the artists that i really like are ai shinohara, melissa haslam, audrey kawasaki. Through the work of these artists I start to have a desire to go back to do drawing and try to develop my drawing style. And i wish someday my drawings can be loved by people.

3. What was your favorite craft project when you were little?
Creating a door hanger decorations

4. The most treasured item you own (your grandmother's plate, a pair of mittens you made, etc.)
My vintage bird necklace

5. (Random Question) When you eat a cupcake, what do eat first- the cupcake or the frosting?
The frosting =)
