This month has been a bit quieter here at Modern Buttercup with less posts then usual. I'm still trying to find my balance between my etsy design shop and this little blog. I'm finally getting that know-how on keeping up with both and promised myself (and you) that I'll post every singly day. How does that sound?

Hello there! Thanks for being so patient while I was away. I really appreciate it! I have a ton of fun, exciting things planned in July and looking forward to unveiling them soon. (Who doesn't love surprises?)

Here's a little summary of things I've been doing lately:

1. graphic design orders (things are finally picking up again)
2. catching up on summer reads
3. relaxing
4. going crazy shopping on etsy. (I have a bad habit of just buying stuff for the sake of it)
5. eagerly awaiting my julep maven subscription

a small summer vacation

Sorry for the lack of photos! I just wanted to let you know that I'll be on a short vacation today through Monday and will be back here blogging on Wednesday or possibly even Thursday (with some awesome news!)

It's my very first outfit post and I couldn't be more excited! It's also the first time I do some self-potraits. The lovely dress I'm wearing was gifted from Sugarlips and I couldn't be happier! I have fallen in love with that dress- the soft, lightweight fabric, the great quality, and the overall look. It's my new favorite piece of clothing! The dress is so beautiful and I just adore it. (Thank you so much Sugarlips!) 

I loved putting together this post and plan on doing more, so stay tuned! (Not to sound cheesy or anything)

blogging: connecting with your readers

I thought I'd give you a few blogging tips and figured I'd start with getting to know your readers and listening to them. 

I know what you're thinking -- listening to my readers? Isn't that what you're advised against? Well, yes and no. Yes because you want to hear from your readers and read their thoughtful, kind comments. You want to engage your readers in your blog. Reply back to their comments, and visit their blogs. It's amazing knowing that you commented on your favorite blogger's blog and got a reply back!

No, because sometimes you can get some negative comments and that is never a good thing (hey, it happens) Or you could have readers that want to change the way you blog. That should never ever influence your blogging or the way you blog. Use the easy way out and delete that mean comment and continue on your way. It'll pass :)

Hello again lovelies! I'm still alive! I've been so wrapped up in design orders and living life. But I'm back!

With summer here, I'll be back on a regular blogging schedule and getting Modern Buttercup back on track. This summer I'll be traveling a bit so expect to see some more "a day through photos" posts more in the coming months. I'm also going to be expanding this blog a bit with some style posts also. Maybe even a new blog design!

I have a ton planned and can't wait to see what I accomplish this summer!

Summer goals

It's so close to summer and I have a ton of things planned: making ice cream, blogging more, art journaling,  getting some new shoes (my light yellow ones are falling apart), and shopping at LUSH. 

And all though it's already June, our weather here has been so odd. It was pouring rain on Friday and has been an even 60 degrees. Not quite my idea of summer!

I have so much I want to do, so much I want to see in only a few short weeks...

julep maven: June

I received my very first "official" Julep Maven box a few days ago and couldn't wait to share it with you! As you know,  I'm a bit of a nail polish addict -- so when I found a nail polish subscription I immediately subscribed with no hesitation. They have so many lovely colors and it's awesome to get a surprise selection every month. Here's what I received this month and my 1-5 star rating...

- This was actually a freebie and wasn't included in the original preview-- but so glad it was! It's a double whammy; a good lip balm with a nice scent and some sun protection too! I loved it.

- I like this one as it also has more than on use (lotion/sun protection) and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it didn't really have a scent. Otherwise, 5 stars.

The nail polish selection this month was amazing and I adored both colors I received: 

Lily - a deep fuchsia. It was really pretty!

Courteney - a pretty, avocado green. Love this one...

it's june + a wallpaper

It's a new month, a fresh start. Summer is about to begin and I can't wait to share some awesome posts for this month! I'm also sharing a cute little wallpaper I've made (shown above) and can be downloaded here. It's my first attempt at a wallpaper and I hope you like it...
