I saw this genius product idea on Pinterest and really like it! Basically, its a highlighter that you can use on textbooks or books and it'll fade in 9 months. Quirky, a invention-based website is helping lauch this product, and I can't wait for the product release!

Grumpy Cat Photoshoot

I am easily won over by cute kitty memes, but Grumpy cat takes the cake. I adored his little not so little TIME photoshoot and the kitty's adorable facial expression. Can it get any cuter than this? I don't think so.

Wishing for summer.

Spring is one of my least favorite times of the year, cold but still sunny (does that even make any sense?). I love the spring fashion, but hate the weather and trust me, I'm really looking forward to warmer days, where I can grab a cup of tea and a good book, and curl up on the patio. Hearing the birds chirping and the wind rustling through the trees is so calming, and the perfect way to de-stress during a crazy week. Ah, summer season, how I miss you.

Friday Favorites: tenth

TGIF! Another good week is passing us by, and yet I'm still hopeful for some warmer Spring weather. I do enjoy a mellow weekend though! Here's a few of my favorite picks this week that I think will make you smile...

Nails: silver & orange

It's been a while since I've posted about my latest nail design! I've missed posting them, but for one reason or another, never got to taking photos. My latest nail designs aren't exactly "spring-y" pastels, but I kind of like them for that reason. Metallics are my favorite polish colors right now, and I'm loving the way the shiny silver balances the bright orange! A bit wild, yes?

I was inspired to do this design based on some lovely nail designs I've seen sprinkled all over Pinterest. Color blocking is one of my favorite nail trends right now, and I love some of the crazy color combos -- they blow my mind!

Goodbye Google Reader

I know I'm a bit late to the party regarding the fact that Google Reader is shutting down. If you've subscribed to Modern Buttercup via Google Reader or Google Friend Connect in the past, I highly suggest you also subscribe via: Bloglovin', Feedly, or RSS.

I personally recommend Bloglovin' as it's what I use, and super easy to learn how to use. It's free and similar to Google Reader, what's not to like?

With Spring coming, I've been super inspired by these candy-colored hues I've seen sprinkled all over the Web! I love the pastel colors each hairstyle has, and I'm currently obsessed with the blue color, as it looks so serene and bright -- very mermaid-y. While I'm not bold enough to rock a beautiful mane like these, they are pretty to look at!

Whew! It's hard to believe that this week is pretty much over! This week has been a crazy, busy, whirlwind week and I'm glad the weekend is here to enjoy and have some downtime. I'll be back here blogging after a much needed blogging break. Here's this week's faves:

Bits.

I can always look forward to a laid back weekend as a blank slate. This weekend I was super determined to get a lot done, but alas, the more I put on my plate, the less I tend to actually finish. But I did get a few bloggy-blog things done! (Top-secret projects of course). I painted my nails, snapped some pictures, tried out a new bun hairstyle, and made a sad attempt at making french macarons. I also caught up on blog reading, did some art journaling, and took a small day trip (which of course, I forgot to take pictures of. Sorry!) Oh, and I also did I little updating in my etsy shop, which I happened to re-open.

Friday Favorites: eighth

This week has been a bit of a slow-fast one hasn't it? As in, fast the first 2 days of the week and slow the last three. I hit a bit of a blogging rut as I'm sure you could tell (I didn't post Wednesday or Thursday! Yikes). I really haven't felt motivated to post as I had literally no posts in mind for this week. None. Zip. Zero. So this weekend, I'm going to finish planning the rest of this month's editorial calendar to keep things moving along and better than ever!

Indoor swings are the cutest things ever! I've wanted one forever, and it would make a pretty nice super-early Christmas presents (hint...hint..)

I'm always looking for a great toner, and I think this just might be it!

This is really the best combo ever. Flowers and more flowers look so pretty and dainty. The image really captures that and I really like the way it was taken.

30 Days of Lists

I've started yet another project for 2013, and I'm really excited to see the end result! 30 Days of Lists is a day-to-day challenge that I've mean meaning to try since last year, but for one reason or another, never got a chance. I love to create lists (you see how many I create here on the blog!) and since I've set some pretty high stakes for myself this year I thought "You have to try this this year!", so I signed myself up and eagerly waited for March 1st to roll around. It's March 3rd, and I'm doing pretty well so far on the listing and decided to create 1 mini "scrapbook" page for each prompt and then create a little book out of it at the end as an incentive for me to finish. Part project, part challenge!

Shop on the side of the road.

I love unexpected adventures! Last weekend, taking a short drive, I saw this adorable little shop on the side of the road and decided to check it out. That was the best idea ever! This side shop had quite an array of things : carved woodland critters, lots of handmade clay pots, and some little potted plants. After browsing, I ended up buying a few clay pots (no surprise)

I guess that just about sums up that little venture doesn't it?
